Biography

An accomplished percussionist/vocalist, Ron was born in the Republic of Guyana, South America. By age 16 he embarked on his musical career with the group “Thunderbirds”. After playing percussion for about 3 years, he became interested in the five piece drum kit which he enjoyed and finally moved up the ladder to becoming one of the best drummers in the country. Hearing of his expertise in drumming, the house band of the famous “Pegasus” (now Meridien Pegasus) hotel hired Ron as their drummer.

This lasted for about 2 years. Then, the number one band of the country at that time, “The Telstars” contacted Ron to be their drummer. After playing at the top night clubs and events for about one year, Ron decided to expand his career in Montréal, Québec, Canada. He immediately was contacted by one of the best brass bands and was playing the Montréal circuit as well as in the Caribbean night clubs.

In 1977 Ron moved to Toronto, Ontario, where he met up with one of his musical long-time friend, Reggie Paul, an accomplished guitar/vocalist. They played together for a while then Ron moved on to join a group of musicians who called themselves “Phase II”. He enjoyed the popularity with these talented musicians for about 8 years performing in Detroit and Chicago in the U.S. and other cities in Canada.

In 1996 Ron moved to South Florida and made the transition from drummer to singer and playing percussion instruments for that was what the industry called for. He immediately demonstrated his talent to the South Floridians, and showed why he deserved such merit with his unique style and flair. All this started when looking for work. Ron went into a marina and suggested to the manager to have a Caribbean day on Sundays. This turned out to be a big success getting the Caribbean community, as well as Americans together to share in this musical journey.
